Cariad Celis
A set of images we created together with a focus on portraiture and fashion.
The Printed Image
I’m a firm believer in printing photos and always aim to take photos that are worthy of printing. I’ve since printed a number from this session with Cariad, and included them in a video/blog post where I compare todays printing against the more traditional darkroom process that I grew up with.
The studio
These images were all taken in an old warehouse in North London called BeltCraftStudios. It used to make belts and buckles for said belts and today it is a studio, one that I love for it’s abundance of daylight and random curios that make for great props.
Cariad and I spend eight hours in here, chasing the daylight from one side of the building to the other and being creative along the way.
I had come armed with an ambitious moodboard with a variety of looks that Cariad said she "“hope she lived up to” but she smashed them out of the park!
I call this the wall of joy. A plaster wall painted battleship grey, but one that has hints of blue in it that you only appreciate once the image is captured. This wall is almost three hours from my home, but the distance means nothing for the results it yields.
