Montpellier with Anaïs

I spent a weekend in Montpellier and enjoyed being a tourist in this beautiful place. I had hoped to shoot with someone during a gap in my calendar and it seemed luck was on my side. Anaïs had just moved back from London to Montpellier and was available during my weekend here. I’d seen her work before, she’d worked with friends of mine in the UK and in fact I had no idea that she originated from the South of France. So this shoot was pure fait. 

I had spent the day before doing some location scouting (below), a few iPhone pics of places that piqued my interest. With a route set, Anaïs and I set out on Sunday morning following my past footsteps and taking photos. She was both muse and teacher, helping me with my French at each impasse. We had a great time exploring Montpellier and dodging the rather unpredictable weather.

Montpellier is lined with cobbled streets, not great for heels! But Anaïs was a trooper and keep swapping out the shoes to complete the look we were after.

The undercurrent of photography today weighs heavy with what AI will do to it, but I know I will never stop wanting to meet cool people in amazing locations to understand who they are and take photos of them. That uniquely human connection than AI cannot imitate.
