Marisa Roper
Take Two

It was late October 2023 and I was in NYC for the weekend, an extended layover on my way back home to London. Marisa happened to be around and I found this awesome studio in the garment district, right below the Empire State Building.

I had not seen her since June, but she was just the same FULL of life. It’s always a blast shooting with this bubbly human.

I love shooting portraits and editorial so we just worked through some outfits that both of us brought and chased the light around the studio.

There is a fuller write up on my NYC trip on my blog but here are a selection of the shots we created together.

Digital or print?

I’m a firm believer in print, photos are best viewed when you are holding them and can feel the texture of the paper. You can really alter the image just by selecting matt, silk or a gloss stock. With fine art paper there is so much choice and I have come to appreciate the benefits of using those higher quality papers.

I’ve printed a number of images from my shoot with Marisa and here are a couple of examples.

If you are interested in the paper and process I use check out my video review.

Always have fun

For me taking photos is important, but so is having a good time. If you can do the two at the same time, then awesome! That is exactly what happens when I shoot with people like Marisa.
