Ada Ho
Ada Ho, take two
Ada reached out last year, asking to shoot together. We’d been introduced (virtually) by a mutual friend and I immediately agreed. But fate had other plans; Air Canada decided to strike, preventing her from leaving home. Six months later, she had designs on a short layover in the UK en route to a dance class in Helsinki, as you do. Ada is one of those people who has creativity in her DNA, reason enough to change plans and meet her in town. This photo is how she greeted me as I awaited her atop the staircase that leads up to our studio. She arrived with three bags of outfits and several cameras to capture the industrial feel of Brick Lane. We had a great shoot, many outfits, and ‘How about we try…’ moments — my idea of a good time. Our last set saw me hanging over the mezzanine as she ‘danced’ upon a canvas background on the floor below, images that I would print hours later.
That evening, Ada re-shared a story of her shooting with Carl Fehres a while back. I had no idea they knew each other. Carl is a photographer I admire who moved from the US to France. We had a long breakfast in Paris back in October, coffee and photography chat. Ada and Carl are both engineers by trade, both of whom excel in this space. I will never tire of how photography brings people together, especially those that share a common connection.
